Do you remember your first continuing medical education (CME) experience?

What’s a memory that you made at the CME?
I remember these things.
My first CME that began my love for CMEs was Pri-Med West in Anaheim, California. I attended this conference with a group of friends from my Physician Assistant (PA) Program. We had just graduated PA school, so we were looking for a CME that was valuable and reasonably priced. Thankfully we lived in Las Vegas, so we didn’t need to spend too much on travel. We also rented a car after we landed in Anaheim so we could explore the city.
This CME not only solidified my love for CMEs but also for becoming a PA. The conference was held at the Anaheim Convention Center. As a newly graduated PA, I remember walking into large conference rooms that were standing room only if you showed up late.
While I was attending other talks, I looked around at the convention center. Looking back now, Pri-Med is the largest CME I’ve ever been to. I was in awe because this was the first time I was surrounded by so many doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. My friends and I were also now physician assistants too! I was grateful to be able to call the health providers around me my colleagues.
A Favorite Memory from The CME
I’m grateful I was able to attend this CME with my PA school friends. The four of us shared a room at a hotel across from the Anaheim Convention Center. We were able to walk to class every morning. Then after class, we would shop and explore the diverse dining experiences that Anaheim had to offer.
While the four of us spent 30+ months studying and learning together in PA school, traveling to a CME was the first time we were able to learn and relax together. We were able to bond as classmates and friends outside of the classroom. I’ll always be glad I shared my first CME experience with them!
I had an unforgettable experience at the Pri-Med CME! I recommend it for primary care providers and newly graduated medical providers to learn new treatments. The exhibit hall was full of new services and products relevant to our practices. I was able to sign up for samples for my patients to try, especially for those who couldn’t afford it otherwise. It was also very economical for a new grad.
The location of the Pri-Med CME was also beneficial! The Anaheim Convention Center is surrounded by many accommodation options of various kinds. You can choose from luxury to economical options that are walking distance from the center. The convention center is also within walking distance of restaurants, shops and Disneyland. Overall, I enjoyed my experience with my friends and recommend Pri-Med CME!
Are you interested in traveling to a CME but not sure where to get started? You can use our free tool, The CME Spot! It’s a search engine that allows you to find CMEs based on filters such as location and date. Soon, you’ll also be able to read reviews from other healthcare providers about their experience attending the CME.
